The Board is composed of students at each university who are dedicating their time and experience to strengthen the foundations of the Joint Degree Programme and to make the WaMStA Student Partnership a helpful and sustainable organization.
President: Liam Arne
I am a Fourth Year/Senior studying International Relations (focusing on the Arab world and Gender Studies) and I am the President on the W&M side as well as a Peer Advisor! I have been so lucky to work with the WaMStA Student Partnership for the last three years between study sessions on the top floor of St Andrews’s IR building and the Chandler Hall lounge at W&M. I love to read feminist literature, eat delicious food, and travel the world. I have deeply enjoyed my time at both universities, whether writing and stomping the runway for Label or debating as a Model UN delegate- and we at the Partnership want to make sure that you can enjoy both schools, too!
International Administrator: Mariana Paulino
I am an Economics major and will graduate in 2019. My favorite studying place at W&M is the Grind and in St. Andrews it’s just the lib. I am in a sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta and have really enjoyed my time with my friends at both schools!
Treasurer: Alex McElya
Alex McElya, second year, IR Major, Favorite place to study at St. Andrews: Sallies study room, William & Mary: the ISC. At st andrews, I enjoyed being the representative for IR first years, I found it fun and productive. At William and Mary, I think my favorite so far is amnesty international.
Social Chair: George Patterson
4th Year, IR, Wine and Cheese Club
External Communications Director: Kary Stevick
I’m Kary and I am a second year IR student. My home institution is St Andrews and I have an uncomfortable love/hate relationship with the library, which is where I spend most of my time (there or Beanscene, RIP). When not studying, my favorite thing to do in St Andrews is to take advantage of the wonderful theater opportunities available to students of any major. At William & Mary I am in the Wham Bam Jazz Band and taking every chance I get to talk about my study abroad experience (in the JDP and in Russia). When not doing those two things, I can usually be found on the 3rd floor of Swem.
These positions are elected in the Spring. The representatives from the 2017-2018 Academic Year will continue until the Spring of 2018 at which point new representatives will be elected. These are:
History: Ashley Brenton
Hi! I’m Ashley and I’m a fourth year history student. My home institution is William and Mary. I loved studying in the Old Union Cafe in St Andrews and at W&M I like Swemromas (real Swem sometimes gives me anxiety)! I’ve also enjoyed being a member of Delta Gamma here at William and Mary and loved being a member of hall committee for St. Salvator’s in St Andrews.
International Relations: Anna-Leigh Ong
I’m Anna-Leigh Ong, and I’m a senior IR Major from New York City. My favorite place to study at William and Mary is Swemromas (programme tip: bring your own mug for a discount on your drink of choice) and at St Andrews, it’s Rectors Cafe. At W&M, I have loved dancing with the Pointe Blank Dance Company, but a part of my heart is still back in St Andrews with the Blue Angels Dance Team. As International Relations Degree Rep, I’m here to help – whether you’re struggling with the Econ requirement or figuring out how to best trick out your dorm room.
English: Meilan Solly
Hi everyone! My name is Meilan Solly, and I’m a fourth-year English major from Leesburg, Virginia. My favorite W&M study spot is Andrews Hall and at St Andrews it is the Saint Office, and my favorite St Andrews and W&M organizations are The Saint and The Flat Hat.
